Bachman Sales UP
Bachman Assoc. sales were up for 2011. Several of us brokers placed in Top Producer category of MLS production. Our Market Share was strong throughout Huerfano County as we participated in almost 2/3 of all transactions over $50,000 and in a whopping 71% of County MLS sales over $450,000. Congrats to all of our Associates and thanks to each of you for helping to making this happen.

Cuchara Winds
Winds along the entire Front Range caused damage last weekend. Mostly caused by trees down over roads, yards and an occasional car. But one cabin even caught the wind just wrong. Roof metal peeled and entire roof section was partially removed. Power was out for about 12 hours.


... and more snow
Another nice snow last night. Our 8 inches so far this morning already exceeds their total storm forecast.


Fall Snow
Most of Colorado saw record-breaking warm temps. today in 70s and even low 80s. A beautiful Fall day in the Cuchara Valley area too. But that all changes Tuesday night. First widespread snows of the season are headed this way. The high temps for Wed. are to be in the 30s with 4 to 8 inches of new snow.


Oktoberfest Weekend
This weekend, La Veta enjoys their annual Oktoberfest celebration. The fall weather and colors are splendid. Street activities will include polka, beer garden and german foods of course. Also entertainment and car shows too. Come join us.


Celtic Music Fest
Our Spanish Peaks Internatinal Celtic Music Festival begins this week with an opening Ceilidh party at the Dog Bar in Cuchara on Thursday at 1:15. The 7th Annual Festival is again full of international Celtic entertainers from throughout Scotland and Ireland. Come join in the jigs and reels music festivities.


Winter Warning?
The cool Fall days have been wonderful but today's weather forecast is not as welcome. Rain showers this afternoon turning to snow flurries (above 10,000 ft.) overnight. YIKES. Oak hillsides are beginning to turn orange and red so the yellow aspens won't be far behind now.


Celtic Music-fest
We went to the fund raiser concert for this year's Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival. The performance of McPeake was fantastic. Not just the usual jigs and reels either. Wonderful instrumentals of fiddle, pipes and whistles. With classic cross-over originals titled "The Lament for Rory" and "Will Ye Go Lassie Go". Attend the entire Festival this year September 22-25.

Holiday Weekend Weather
After several days of smokey hazey skies it is nice to wake up and breath cool clear air this morning. The forest fire down at Los Alamos NM has been pumping its smoke our way all week. That, combined with warmer than normal temps. has made for an uncomfortable past few days. But all looks much better this morning so hopefully great 4 th weekend weather is in store for us.


Planning and Commissioners Both Approve Shell Well
The Huerfano County Commissioners have unanimously approved the Shell permit for an exploratory gas well west of La Veta. They reduced the water testing provision recommended by P & Z but did increase the Bonding requirements. The new permit is only for this first exploratory well and any subsequent new drilling activity must again come before the Commission for approval.


Public Hearing on fracking
Tomorrow is a big day for Citizen Coalition to voice their dismay and displeasure regarding Shell application for an exploratory well just west of La Veta utilizing "well fracking" methods. The entire Huerfano Board of County Commissioners and Manager seem to have once again disregarded public right and need for in depth hearings on important valley matters.
The public outcry has been heard by concerned citizens and by Planning and Zoning who has requested the joint Hearing Tuesday, June 28, 1:30 pm at Huerfano County Community Center located at 928 Russell Av.
